Gates Corp. unveils G8K MegaSpiral Hose

August 8, 2011 By Paul Heney

Share

Denver—The Fluid Power unit of Gates Corp. announced a new G8K MegaSpiral hydraulic hose as part of its new and improved MegaSys product line. The spiral-wire constant pressure hoses are rated up to 8000 psi working pressure in all sizes and have been tested to an industry-leading one million impulse cycles. They set new standards for hydraulic hose in extreme high-pressure, high-impulse applications, outperforming other 8000-psi (55.2 MPa) hose products on the market today.

Bending up to one-half the SAE specifications, G8K hoses offer increased flexibility and shorter overall hose assembly lengths. The hoses require fewer bent tube fittings and can be routed in tight spaces for easy installation, making them suitable for applications found in mobile construction, boom arms, hydrostatic drives, mining trucks, excavators and agricultural machinery. They also offer extended life in bending, flexing applications to reduce downtime and decrease hose costs.

The G8K MegaSpiral hose construction features four alternating layers (six in some larger sizes) of spiraled, high tensile steel and a nitrile tube for use with biodegradable hydraulic fluids. The hoses are available with abrasion-resistant MegaTuff covers and are compatible with new two-piece, no-skive G8K couplings for leak-free performance and easy assembly fabrication.

The hoses also feature a color-coded layline and constant pressure ratings, making them easier to identify in stock and in service while reducing inventory requirements. Their yellow layline indicates hose trade name; size and pressure; SAE, EN or DIN standard; and MSHA flame resistance compliance.
