Smart throttle valve for higher pressure ranges

The newly developed digital electronics developed by Rexroth offer simplified optimization of hydraulic controller parameters and improved control quality.

New on-board digital electronics for improved control quality
Machine manufacturers can now realize hydraulic systems with reduced dimensions and improved control behavior thanks to the new Rexroth 2-way proportional throttle valves. These cartridge valves are designed for a maximum operating pressure of 420 bar. The newly developed on-board electronics enable compensation of decentralized disturbances for improved control quality.

In hydraulics, the trend towards higher pressure ranges becomes more and more important. This enables machine and system manufacturers to use smaller system components to further support the traditional strengths of hydraulics, force density and low space requirements. These requirements were taken into account by Rexroth in the development of the new 2WFCE throttle valves with a maximum operating pressure increase from 315 to 420 bar.

The new 2WFCE cartridge valves are used as throttle valves for increased flow rates or in combination with a pressure compensator for flow control. For example, they realize decompression of the system in press applications or control the rapid traverse velocity of pressing cylinders. In plastics processing machines, they are applied for pQ control in displacement pump systems or for discharge throttling at closing units for regenerative operation.

The newly developed digital electronics with microprocessor enable uncomplicated optimization of controller parameters at clearly increased dynamics. The units combine high response sensitivity and clearly improved frequency characteristics at reduced hysteresis. This enables improved control quality at shorter cycle times. During production, Rexroth applies automatic calibration of all valves and stores individual data in the electronics. This way, the time and effort of commissioning in series production of machinery is reduced. In case of power failure or cable break, the main stage is automatically switched to a fail safe position.

As no analog potentiometers are required, the valves are more resistant to vibrations.

Additionally, the admissible ambient temperature is increased from 50° to 60°C which makes the valves suitable for direct installation at hydraulic pumps and use in enclosed spaces.
