If you’ve never had the chance to attend a Hannover Fair, now’s the time to start planning. The venerable event has a particular focus on fluid power in odd-numbered years, so the 2015 event, scheduled for April 13-17 in Hannover, Germany, would be a good opportunity to see the latest technology from around the globe.
I had a chance to sit down with some representatives from the Hannover Fair a couple of weeks go at the IMTS Show in Chicago, and was pleased to learn that India has been selected as the official Partner Country for the 2015 show. The country of more than a billion people was selected due to the successful 2006 Partner Country experience, its fast-growing economy, and the many years of good relations between India and Germany.
I’ve been to plenty of industrial trade shows in my day, and Hannover Fair is hard to compare in size to anything else. Here are some stats in my meager attempt to try:
• 24 halls / 42 football fields (net)
• 6,550 exhibitors from 62 countries
• 225,000 visitors from 80 countries
• 2,475 journalists from 50 countries
Hannover Messe, the umbrella organization, is also branching out its brand to other industrial shows across the world, from Asia to the Americas to Europe. But if you have the time and the ability, I hope to see you at the mothership in just about half a year from now. For more details, visit www.hannovermesse.de/home.
UPDATE: On October 6th, Deutsche Messe announced that it is expanding its industrial tradeshow portfolio in the U.S. … the release is below.
Three new trade fairs to premiere in Chicago in September 2016
Hannover/Chicago. Deutsche Messe AG has organized Industrial Automation NORTH AMERICA in the U.S. since 2012 and launched MDA NORTH AMERICA in 2014. The success of these two events underscores the ongoing re-industrialization trend in the U.S., where low labor and energy costs are spurring on industrial production and filling manufacturers’ order books.
Following this trend, in 2016 Deutsche Messe will organize three additional events – ComVac NORTH AMERICA, Industrial Supply NORTH AMERICA and Surface Technology NORTH AMERICA – which cover compressed-air and vacuum technology, industrial subcontracting and surface treatment, respectively.
These five trade fairs from the HANNOVER MESSE portfolio will run parallel to IMTS (International Manufacturing Technology Show) from 12 to 17 September 2016 at McCormick Place in Chicago. With more than 2,000 exhibitors and 110,000 trade visitors, IMTS is North America’s leading trade fair for manufacturing technology.
“Industrial production is returning to the U.S., bringing with it mechanical and electrical engineering. It was clear at IMTS this year that many industrial companies in the U.S., Canada and Mexico are increasing their investments in machinery and factories. It is therefore an important and correct step for us to enhance the existing MDA NORTH AMERICA and Industrial Automation NORTH AMERICA with these additional topics,” said Dr. Andreas Gruchow, member of the managing board at Deutsche Messe AG.
