B&R Industrial Automation continues to open up new possibilities in off-road automation with its X90 mobile controllers. A comprehensive set of standardized components lets engineers readily implement flexible automation concepts for ag, forestry, construction and municipal vehicles.
The heart of the X90 mobile control system is a powerful ARM processor and multifunction I/O channels. Basic features include interfaces for CAN, Ethernet and the real-time Powerlink bus system. Expansion boards let engineers adapt the system for a wide variety of applications. These can be set up for tasks such as the grapple hydraulics on a front-end loader using preconfigured software blocks that not only accelerate development, but also ensure that the software can be reused for other configurations.
The X90 has a robust cast-aluminum housing designed for harsh environments. It can handle operating temperatures from -40° to 85°C and it resists vibration, shock, salt-spray, UV, light and oil. The control system offers straightforward configuration and reliable control for attachments and implements. And individual machines can be networked together and their data evaluated in higher-level systems.
