NFPA conference talks global challenges
The highlight in the fluid power community over the past couple of weeks was certainly the annual conference of the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) in Hawaii.
Technical documents from NFPA focus on seals, cleanliness, filters
Two new technical documents and a new technical report have recently been published and are now available from the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA).
IFPE named as one of fastest growing events
IFPE 2011 has been named one of the top 25 fast-growth shows by EXPO Magazine, and the exhibition was cited for its increasing use of technology. NFPA co-owns IFPE with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and it is produced by AEM. IFPE is the largest show in North America focused on new equipment and […]
NFPA Foundation offering grant for fluid power lab
The NFPA Education and Technology Foundation has initiated its new Fluid Power Laboratory Program to establish a state-of-the-art training lab at a qualifying educational institution.
2011 in review
When 2011 started, I would have expected that the triennial IFPE show would have been the talk of the year. And the show was an impressive one, with more than 400 exhibitors, 100,000+ attendees at the combined co-located shows (including CONEXPO and CON/AGG) and a wonderful technical conference. But what I find perhaps most significant for the industry was how three of the main fluid power organizations came together in a joint effort to discuss efficiency.
Caterpillar’s Global Product Manager to speak at NFPA conference
Caterpillar’s Global Product Manager-Large Excavators, Kenneth Gray, will be one of the featured speakers at the 2012 National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) Annual Conference. He will address more than 100 industry leaders and member companies in Hawaii, March 6-10, 2012.
Three new technical standards available from NFPA
Three new technical documents have recently been published and are now available from the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA): Fluid power connectors and associated components – Nominal outside diameters of tubes and nominal hose sizes; Pneumatic fluid power – Cylinders – Single-rod short-stroke cylinders, 1 000 kPa (10 bar) series, bores from 20 mm to 100 mm; and Hydraulic fluid power – Pressure switches – Mounting surfaces (second edition).
NFPA innovation award goes to inventors of diesel marine system
The National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) is pleased to recognize design engineers Erling Skaar and Odd Arild Olsen as the recipients of the first-ever NFPA Innovation Award, given to individuals for using fluid power technology in innovative ways. Skaar and Olsen received the award for their unique design of an energy efficient controller that also reduces the carbon footprint of marine vessels.
Energy efficiency conference hits Chicago
Jon Jensen of SMC, Immediate Past President of the International Fluid Power Society, opened up the first Energy Efficient Hydraulics and Pneumatics Conference at the Sheraton Chicago O’Hare Airport Hotel on Tuesday. Jensen explained that the registered attendance was 107, an excellent showing for a first-time event.
