I was glad to hear at the recent National Fluid Power Association International Economic Outlook Conference that the group will be holding an upcoming regional career fair. This is something that the fluid power community needs more of, and it’s great to see the companies that have already signed up, including: Bimba Manufacturing, HUSCO International, Hydraforce, Schroeder Industries, Oilgear, Poclain Hydraulics, Helgesen Industries, and HYDAC.
The event will be held in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.
According to the NFPA. member companies located in and around southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois will be present to talk with candidates about jobs in the fluid power industry. The career fair’s goal is to connect students, industry, educators, and other job seekers. Students and educators can receive free registration, and the first 10 students to register will receive a free professional resume review by Bosco-Hubert & Associates.
The NFPA says that there are hundreds of current job openings in the fluid power field. According to a recent Fluid Power Industry Workforce Needs Survey, 75% of the manufacturers surveyed are expecting to hire technicians and engineers with two to four years of education.
