Handheld remote control frees one hand for operator safety and reliability

One of the key technologies highlighted by Scanreco at CONEXPO/CON-AGG earlier this month was its OneGrip pistol grip transmitter, along with other new remote-control tech that provides advanced safety, cyber-security, and compliance features. Scanreco also promoted its Mega Flex and Rocket Plus new transmitters.

The new large format Mega Flex transmitter features a 7-in. touchscreen and is designed for highly complex machines and advanced workflows, providing real-time system insights and intuitive operator feedback. Rocket Plus, Scanreco’s latest handheld on/off remote, is also engineered for ruggedness and cyber-security.

Scanreco's OneGrip pistol grip transmitter allows for easy one-handed operation, helping solo operators with safe machine operation.

But the OneGrip introduces true one-hand operational capability, combining compact ergonomics with uncompromising safety and control integrity. For OEMs designing machines used by solo operators, OneGrip delivers true one-hand proportional control, without compromising safety, reliability, or compliance. Built on Scanreco’s cybersecure by design G6 platform, OneGrip combines SIL 3 and PL e certified safety, robust 2.4 GHz radio communication, and a rugged pistolgrip form factor engineered for tougher daily field use.

With proportional trigger control and an ergonomic, balanced design, OneGrip lets operators climb, stabilize, guide loads, and manage precision tasks with one hand – while the other stays free for tools, balance, or situational awareness.

Scanreco's OneGrip remote controls are available with a color screen, a monochrome screen, or LED indication and can also be customized with the machine manufacturer's logo.

“These are designed primarily for cranes — in particular, service cranes,” said Paul Majewski, Applications Engineer, who highlighted a variety of brands where this type of technology is already in use. “But this is our new design for everybody, and it offers a totally configurable layout with three options. There’s a color screen, a monochrome screen, and LED indication.”

These options allow OEMs to match operator feedback to application needs.

It is certified for PL e and SIL 3 and includes the Scanreco Integrated Safety Protocol (SISP), ensuring every command is continuously monitored. Its cybersecure design supports compliance with evolving global safety and cybersecurity regulations.

The proportional trigger enables smooth, precise machine control with a single hand. Six configurable side buttons, haptic feedback, buzzer, and optional proximity control allow OneGrip to be tailored to specific workflows. A fully brandable front overlay reinforces OEM identity and reduces operator training time.

OneGrip is designed around how operators work – often alone, in unpredictable environments, with tools and loads to manage simultaneously. Proportional trigger control frees one hand for balance, tools, and load handling, which in turn reduces strain and increases safety during real field work.
