Cleveland—Eaton Corp. (ETN) announced that Nanda Kumar has been named EVP, Eaton Business System (EBS), effective August 1, 2012. Kumar will be located at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, and will report to Eaton’s chairman and chief executive officer, Alexander M. Cutler. Kumar succeeds Uday Yadav, who has been named president, Aerospace Group in the company’s Industrial Sector.
Kumar will be responsible for the processes that support Eaton’s integrated operating system, known as the Eaton Business System. He will have responsibility for the company’s Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain Management, Environment, Health and Safety, and Flight Operations functions.
“Nanda is a proven global leader with the business, manufacturing and functional experience to excel in this key leadership role. I am looking forward to working with him as he continues to build on Eaton’s strong EBS foundation,” said Cutler. “I also want to thank Uday for his leadership in developing the new EBS PULL element of EBS, continued maturation of the Eaton Business Excellence assessment process, the realignment of our Environment, Health and Safety function, and ensuring that the EBS and its deployment remains at the front and center of capturing the scale and breadth of an integrated operating company.”
Most recently, Kumar was president, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for the Vehicle Group in the company’s Industrial Sector. Kumar joined Eaton in 1990 and held positions of increasing responsibility in the automotive business including plant manager for the facilities in Roxboro, North Carolina, and Massa, Italy, and general manager for the Air Induction and Cylinder Head Systems business. In addition, he served as VP and general manager for the specialty controls and valve actuation businesses. Prior to joining Eaton, Kumar was with the Robert Bosch Corp.
Kumar holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bangalore University in India, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.
