Danfoss expands availability of BMV integrated drive motor

Danfoss Power Solutions announced global availability of its BMV Integrated Drive Motor, a two-speed axial piston motor with an integrated planetary reduction gearbox. Previously offered only in select markets, the motor is designed for dual-path tracked machinery such as compact track loaders and is intended to provide a compact option for these applications.

The BMV Integrated Drive Motor is designed for controlled startup and high brake torque to support consistent machine operation. The motor is intended to start rotating smoothly across pump swashplate angles, reducing abrupt acceleration at startup. It uses an efficient rotating kit and an optimized reduction gearbox to provide higher torque at low speeds and consistent power transmission. The integrated design supports predictable startup and operation, and an integrated high-torque multiplate parking brake is designed to hold the machine stationary, with brake torque rated higher than the motor’s maximum output torque.

The BMV Integrated Drive Motor is designed with a compact, lightweight package to support installation, removal and gear oil changes. Concave areas on the drive mounting flange provide access to motor fasteners so the BMV can be installed and serviced from the machine’s exterior. Compared with similar motors, the BMV 28/32-cc frame size can weigh up to 14% less and the BMV 41/51-cc size can weigh up to 13% less, which can help reduce overall machine weight.

Designed for high-duty-cycle compact track loaders, the BMV Integrated Drive Motor is built to support durability and service life. It uses Danfoss rotating kits and motor geometries intended to support performance and reliability. A duo-cone mechanical seal helps limit dirt ingress and reduce contamination risk. The motor has been used in Japan, South Korea and China for more than 10 years and has been updated based on customer feedback.

“Our BMV drive motor boasts a decade of experience, making it a product well proven in the marketplace,” said Fumiaki Egawa, global sales development manager, Daikin-Sauer-Danfoss. “The time is right for expansion into additional markets, as tracked machines such as CTLs grow in popularity. Along with our Thorx CLM T motor, Danfoss can offer OEMs the track drive technology they prefer — axial piston with gearbox or cam lobe — delivering an ideal solution for a variety of machines.”

The BMV Integrated Drive Motor is available in two frame sizes and four displacements: 28 cc, 32 cc, 41 cc and 51 cc. It offers imperial and metric port configurations, with optional features such as a loop flushing valve and a PLUS+1 compliant speed sensor. Typical applications include crawler-type equipment such as compact track loaders, crawler carriers and forwarders, crawler tractors and crawler mowers.
