This year, Daman Products is celebrating 40 years of excellence in the hydraulic manifold industry. Daman will celebrate its birthday with events for the community, customers, and their employees. The public is invited to enjoy complimentary appetizers and a cash bar at their Business After-Hours networking on Wednesday, June 15 from 5 – 7 pm.
In 1976, Mishawaka native Jack Davis and his son Larry launched Daman in a cramped 40’ x 40’ warehouse. With only a high school education, a sharp engineering mind and a desire to build a better product, Jack, a man with no manufacturing experience, began a business venture that would one day become a leading hydraulic valve manifold company — an inspirational model for other manufacturing companies throughout the U.S.
Since then, they’ve endured many growing pains. In 1997, recognizing a need to make a change in order to remain competitive, Daman executives embraced a little-known concept called LEAN. This system is based on the principles of eliminating waste, streamlining processes, and increasing efficiencies by focusing on processes, technology and people. Little did they know that LEAN would be the catalyst to start a cultural conversion and lead Daman down the path of continuous improvement.
Because of Daman’s culture of continuous improvement, their people embrace challenge. They bring innovation and creativity to every process; and focus on eliminating waste that is prevalent in conventional manufacturing models today. By continually improving processes, Daman successfully moves information and products with greater velocity through the supply chain in response to their customer’s needs.
Daman also gives back. Their people are engaged in the community as volunteers of all kinds. Individually and as a company, they donate time and money to various community services and programs. Many of their efforts are focused on the public education system where they advocate changing obsolete paradigms and encouraging innovation to help children succeed.
