CMA/Flodyne/Hydradyne, a Chicago area distributor and machine automation and control solutions provider for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical applications, will be offering a new Introduction to Hydraulics class July 8-11, 2019.

The company sees a need for hydraulics training because it says The United States is undergoing the biggest turnover of its workforce in its history. Many of the newer American industrial maintenance workers are stepping into their positions with limited formal training or experience with manufacturing technology – electrical, mechanical and hydraulic fluid power. The new Introduction to Hydraulics — to be taken before Basic Hydraulic Training — addresses the problem of employee readiness and is an excellent foundational class for anyone who is new or inexperienced in hydraulics.

This 4-day training course is the first step in the development of competent maintenance mechanics and technical personnel that need to be capable of understanding, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic systems. This includes proper pump setup and commissioning techniques.

This first step hydraulic training seminar concentrates on developing students’ in-depth understanding of industrial hydraulic fundamentals. These fundamentals include: characteristics of fluid pressure, fluid flow, fluid power, cylinder and hydraulic motor speed control, system heat production. Students will understand the purpose, function, operation and hydraulic schematic symbol for all major hydraulic valves and pumps.

The company also offers the following courses:

• Basic Hydraulics, set for May 13-16 and October 28-31, 2019. This level one course is for equipment maintenance personnel who have had limited formal training in industrial hydraulics and would like to become more confident in using hydraulically powered and controlled machines and equipment. This course is also recommended for plant engineering personnel and mobile equipment engineering personnel who are tasked with hydraulic system improvement, system modification and system design.
• Advanced Hydraulics, set for October 21-24, 2019. Advanced Hydraulic is a level two training for equipment maintenance personnel who have attended Basic Hydraulic Training or have equivalent knowledge/experience in Hydraulics. This course is also recommended for plant engineering personnel who are tasked with hydraulic system improvement, system modification and system design.
• Understanding Proportional Valves, set for November 5-8, 2018 and November 9-12, 2019. During this four day seminar, the participant will work with the most popular types of proportionally controlled components and their associated controller/amplifier cards. Valves with and without LVDTs will be included in a selection of lab exercises as well as valves with and without on-board electronics. This class is an appropriate seminar for both electrical and mechanical maintenance personnel.
